In ihrem am 13. März 2009 auf Ersuchen der Europäischen Kommission vorgelegten wissenschaftlichen Gutachten zur Sicherheit von „Püree und Konzentrat aus den Früchten von Morinda citrifolia (Noni)“ als neuartige Lebensmittelzutat kam die EFSA, Gremium für diätetische Produkte, Ernährung und Allergien, zu dem Schluss, dass Püree und Konzentrat aus Nonifrüchten für die allgemeine Bevölkerung unbedenklich seien.
