In afwijking van artikel 42, lid 3, van Verordening (EG) nr. 479/2008 mogen de namen, en synoniemen daarvan, van wijndruivenrassen die zijn opgenomen in deel A van bijlage XV bij de onderhavige verordening en geheel of gedeeltelijk bestaan uit een beschermde oorsprongsbenaming of geografische aanduiding, slechts op het etiket van een product met een beschermde oorsprongsbenaming, een beschermde geografische aanduiding of een geografische aanduiding van een derde land worden vermeld als zij waren toegestaan op grond van de communautaire voorschriften die van kracht waren op 11 mei 2002 of, indien dit later is, op de datum van toetreding van de betrokken lidstaat.
3. By way of derogation from Article 42(3) of Regulation (EC) No 479/2008, the wine grape variety names and their synonyms listed in Part A of Annex XV to this Regulation, that consist of or contain a protected designation of origin or geographical indication may only appear on the label of a product with protected designation of origin or geographical indication or geographical indication of a third country if they were authorised under Community rules in force on 11 May 2002 or on the date of accession of Member States, whichever is later.

A Member State or third country authority or the applicant established in the third country in question may request the conversion of a protected designation of origin into a protected geographical indication if the compliance with the product specification of a protected designation of origin is no longer possible or can no longer be guaranteed.

14. is van mening dat de lidstaten in het kader van deze nieuwe vormen van territoriale samenwerking moeten kunnen gebruik maken van alle plattelandsontwikkelingsmaatregelen die verband houden met een kwaliteitsbeleid inzake levensmiddelen, met als doel in eerste instantie de verkoop op plaatselijke markten en korte toevoerketens te bevorderen en voor een grotere duurzaamheid van en kennis over de productiemethoden te zorgen, en wijst erop dat de EU-voorschriften hierbij volledig moeten worden nageleefd en dat de bestaande EU-kwaliteitsregelingen (zoals de beschermde oorsprongsbenaming, beschermde geografische aanduiding en gegarandeerde traditionele specialiteit) hier niet negatief mogen worden door beïnvloed, ondermijnd of verzwakt; is van mening dat territoriale labels van uitmuntendheid in de voedingsmiddelensector beperkt moeten blijven tot de bevordering van bestaande kwaliteitsregelingen van beschermde oorsprongsbenamingen, beschermde geografische aanduidingen en gegarandeerde traditionele specialiteiten, of indien deze regelingen nog niet bestaan, tot de ondersteuning van de invoering ervan; vraagt dat de Commissie, rekening houdend met de proliferatie van labels en regionale branding betreffende levensmiddelen in Europa, een inventaris opstelt van merken met specifieke regionale eigenschappen, met als doel eventuele negatieve effecten op de kwaliteitsregelingen te vermijden; merkt op dat het concept „regionaal label” duidelijk moet worden gedefinieerd, gelet op de positieve ervaringen die zijn opgedaan met de bestaande kwaliteitslabels (beschermde oorsprongsbenaming, beschermde geografische aanduiding en gegarandeerde traditionele specialiteit), en dat er moet worden gezorgd voor de vaststelling van gecoördineerde strategieën om doublures en overlappingen te voorkomen en een gemeenschappelijke aanpak gebaseerd op een op Europees niveau vast te stellen kader;
14. Considers that, in the context of these new forms of territorial cooperation, Member States should be able to use all measures of rural development linked to a quality policy for food products, with the aim of developing in particular sales in local markets and short supply chains and improving the sustainability as well as the knowledge of production methods, while fully respecting the EU rules and without affecting, undermining or weakening the existing Union quality schemes, such as protected designation of origin (PDO), protected geographical indication (PGI) and Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG); considers that, in the agri-food sector, the territorial excellence branding should be confined to promoting the PDO-PGI-TSG quality schemes where they exist or to supporting their creation where they do not yet exist; calls on the Commission, taking account of the proliferation of multiple labels and regional brandings regarding food products in Europe, to draw up an inventory of brands with specific regional features, in order to avoid any possible negative effects on the quality schemes; maintains that the concept of regional branding should be clearly defined, taking into account the favourable experience with existing quality labels (PDO, AOC, PGI), and that coordinated strategies should be drawn up to avoid duplication and overlapping, proceeding from a shared common approach based on a framework to be laid down at EU level;

3. Bij de etikettering van producten uit de Unie die in de handel worden gebracht met een volgens de procedures van deze verordening geregistreerde beschermde oorsprongsbenaming of beschermde geografische aanduiding worden de vermeldingen "beschermde oorsprongsbenaming" of "beschermde geografische aanduiding", of de bijbehorende symbolen aangebracht.

In the case of products originating in the Union, marketed under a protected designation of origin or a protected geographical indication registered in accordance with the procedures laid down in this Regulation, the indications ‘protected designation of origin’ or ‘protected geographical indication’ or the Union symbols associated with them shall appear on the labelling. In addition, the corresponding abbreviations "PDO" or "PGI" may appear on the labelling.
