De Europese Commissie richt momenteel in het Robert Schuman-Centrum voor geavanceerde studies van het Europees Universitair Instituut in Florence (EUI) een Centrum voor mediapluralisme en mediavrijheid op en kent hiervoor een subsidie van 600 000 euro toe.

Als prioriteit voor Brite-EuRam III zijn onderwerpen gekozen die een positieve bijdrage leveren tot het concurrentievermogen, de werkgelegenheid en het milieu, zoals met name: . voor de activiteiten op korte termijn: de technologie die het de klassieke industrietakken en met name het MKB mogelijk maakt te blijven concurreren en derhalve de werkgelegenheid op peil te houden en verder uit te breiden (30-40% van het budget van het programma); . voor de activiteiten op middellange termijn: de geavanceerde technologie die rekening houdt met de volledige levenscyclus van de produkten en de bedrijven in staat stelt flexibel en efficiënt te produceren, de effecten op het milieu te beperken en de mankracht rationeler te gebruiken (45-55% van het budget van het programma); . voor de activiteiten op lange termijn:de innoverende technologie die het mogelijk maakt nieuwe industrietakken of nieuwe markten te creëren (10-20% van het budget van het programma).
The priorities of Brite-EuRam III are activities which promote competitiveness, employment and the environment, notably: short-term activities: technologies allowing traditional industries, in particular SMEs, to remain competitive and hence to maintain and develop employment reserves (30 to 40% of the programme budget); medium-term activities: advanced technologies taking account of the entire life cycle of products, involving flexible, efficient production, reduced environmental impact and more rational use of human resources (45 to 55% of the programme budget); long-term activities: innovative technologies leading to the creation of new industries or new markets (10 to 20% of the programme budget).

Voorts zal er een Europees Economisch Samenwerkingsverband (EESV), waarvan dit Instituut en bedrijven van verscheidene Europese landen deel zullen uitmaken, in het leven worden geroepen en de rol van la Cartuja als regionaal centrum voor onderzoek, technologie en innovatie zal over enige tijd nog versterkt worden wanneer op hetzelfde terrein de CSIC (Spaanse Hoge Raad voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek) zijn deuren zal openen.
In addition, a European economic interest grouping (EEIG) composed of the IPTS and undertakings from several European countries will be created.
