[7] Art 29 TEU: “[.] the Union's objective shall be to provide citizens with a high level of safety within an area of freedom, security and justice by developing common action among the Member States in the fields of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters [.].That objective shall be achieved by preventing and combating crime, organised or otherwise, in particular terrorism, trafficking in persons and offences against children, illicit drug trafficking and illicit arms trafficking, corruption and fraud, through:- [.]; - closer cooperation between judicial and other competent authorities of the Member States [.] in accordance with the provisions of Articles 31and 32; - [.]”.

3. Om alle in artikel 3 bedoelde taken betreffende de internationale instrumenten voor justitiële samenwerking in burgerlijke en handelszaken te verrichten, onderhoudt het netwerk contacten en wisselt het ervaringen uit met andere tussen derde staten opgerichte netwerken voor justitiële samenwerking en met internationale organisaties die de internationale justitiële samenwerking bevorderen.
3. In order to meet its responsibilities under Article 3 concerning international instruments on judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters, the Network shall maintain contact and exchanges of experience with the other judicial cooperation networks established between third countries and with international organisations that promote international judicial cooperation.

The framework programme established by Council Decision 2002/630/JHA of 22 July 2002 establishing a framework programme on police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (AGIS) has contributed considerably to strengthening cooperation between police and other law enforcement agencies and the judiciary in the Member States and to improving mutual understanding and mutual trust between their police, judicial, legal and administrative systems.
