Calls on the Commission to propose a Quality Framework for Traineeships, building on its earlier proposal for a European Quality Charter on Internships and Apprenticeships , including a definition of quality traineeships with criteria for appropriate compensation, working conditions and health and safety standards; calls on the Member States and the social partners to ensure adequate quality standards for traineeships, making sure that traineeships are tailored to the needs of young people to develop relevant skills, backed up by mandatory monitoring, as well as to ensure quality standards for work placements, inter alia with a view to preventing the exploitation of young people as cheap substitute labour; stresses that active promotion and awareness-raising in respect of such standards are needed;

Maintains that one of the bioeconomy’s guiding principles is to enhance resource efficiency and reduce dependence on imported raw materials, energy and non-renewable natural resources; points to the importance of the forest sector and other bio-based industries, and maintains that carbon-neutral renewable natural resources and raw materials, such as wood and wood fibre, can replace non-renewable fossil raw materials; points out that the bioeconomy industry produces many high added-value products, such as chemicals, medicines, plastics and other innovative new materials and that it creates jobs; highlights the potential of biotechnologies based on marine resources;

36. dringt er bij de Commissie op aan alle relevante partijen te betrekken bij het formuleren van streefdoelen voor een duurzame ruimtelijke ordening in het zevende MAP; dringt er bij de Commissie op aan in het zevende MAP heikele kwesties in de ruimtelijke ordening, zoals de teloorgang van seminatuurlijke habitats en de vervanging van hoogwaardige akkerbouw door gewassen voor biobrandstoffen, te beschrijven; benadrukt in dit verband de noodzaak van duurzaamheidscriteria voor biomassa en biobrandstoffen, waarbij ook de kwestie van indirecte veranderingen in landgebruik besproken moet worden;

Urges the Commission to involve all relevant stakeholders in the formulation of targets which should ensure sustainability of land use in the 7th EAP; calls on the Commission to define critical land-use issues such as the loss of semi-natural habitats and the displacement of high-value land uses by bioenergy crops; emphasises, in this connection, the need for sustainability criteria for biomass and biofuels which also address the issue of indirect land-use change;
