Het Agentschap heeft gekozen voor scheepsbevrachting op lange termijn door stand-bycontracten te sluiten met commerciële scheepsoperatoren die beschikken over vaartuigen met voldoende capaciteit, die kunnen worden aangepast aan de bestrijding van verontreiniging, en die de vier aangeduide prioritaire regio’s (de Baltische Zee, de westelijke toegangswegen tot het Engels Kanaal, de Atlantische Kust en de Middellandse Zee) zouden dekken, terwijl ze gedurende een periode van minstens 3 jaar ook gelijkaardige bijstand kunnen bieden in andere regio’s in nood (stand-byvaartuigen).
The Agency has opted for long-term chartering by concluding stand-by contracts with commercial ship operators having vessels of sufficient capacity that can be adapted for pollution response purposes, which would cover the four designated priority regions (the Baltic Sea, the western approaches to the English Channel, the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean), while they can also provide similar assistance to any other area in need during a minimum period of three years (stand-by ships).
