Wel geldt er een aantal uitzonderingen op deze vrijstelling: bepaalde economische activiteiten (zoals landbouw- of mijnbouwbedrijven) en bepaalde overheidsbedrijven (zoals de luchthaven van Schiphol (Amsterdam) of de Staatsloterij) zijn wel vennootschapsbelasting verschuldigd.
