In the light of progress achieved between the leaders of the two communities under the good offices of the UN Secretary-General to find a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem, Turkey is encouraged to increase in concrete terms its commitment and contribution to these talks.

12. vraagt de Veiligheidsraad van de Verenigde Naties om een uitbreiding van de opdracht van de ECOWAS in de Ivoorkust te overwegen in de context van het vredesinitiatief van de Afrikaanse Unie, en de interventiemacht om te vormen tot vredesmacht van de Verenigde Naties;
12. Calls on the UN Security Council to consider the possibility of increasing the strength of the ECOWAS mission in Côte d'Ivoire, within the context of the African Union Peace Facility, and transform it into a UN peacekeeping force;

Gelet op de verklaringen van de VN-Veiligheidsraad, naar aanleiding van rapporten van de heer Alvaro de Soto, speciaal adviseur voor Cyprus van de secretaris-generaal van de VN, dringt de Commissie er bij alle betrokken partijen en, in de huidige context, met name bij Turkije op aan alle steun te verlenen aan de inspanningen van de Verenigde Naties om dit jaar een alomvattend akkoord voor het probleem-Cyprus te bereiken.
Noting the statements issued by the United Nations Security Council, following reports by the UN Secretary General's Special Adviser for Cyprus, Mr.Alvaro de Soto, the Commission urges all parties concerned and particularly, in the present context, Turkey, to lend full support to the efforts of the United Nations to achieve a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem this year.
