Het onderzoek wordt geconcentreerd op: de effecten van klimaatverandering op de componenten van de hydrologische cyclus - interacties tussen land/oceaan/atmosfeer, de verspreiding van grondwater en oppervlaktewater, zoetwater- en wetland-ecosystemen, het functioneren van de bodem en waterkwaliteit; beoordeling van de kwetsbaarheid van water/bodemsystemen voor veranderingen op wereldschaal; beheerstrategieën, de effecten daarvan en schadebeperkingstechnologieën; scenario's met betrekking tot de toekomstige vraag naar en beschikbaarheid van water.
Research will focus on: impact of climate change on the components of the hydrological cycle - land/ocean/atmosphere interactions, groundwater/surface water distribution, freshwater and wetland ecosystems, soil functioning and water quality; assessment of vulnerability of water/soil systems to global change; management strategies, their impacts and mitigation technologies; scenarios of water demand and availability.
