Furthermore, the Commission chairs the Committees of Member States which are charged with agreeing the strategies and in some cases individual projects under the Community's co-operation instruments: European Development Fund (EDF), Technical Assistance to the Commonwealth of Independent States (Tacis), Asia and Latin America (ALA), Mediterranean (MEDA), European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) etc.

1. The Commission shall be assisted by a committee, referred to as "the ALA Committee", composed of representatives of the Member States and chaired by a representative of the Commission.

Het comité komt eenmaal per jaar bijeen met vertegenwoordigers van de maatschappelijke organisaties die zich inzetten voor het uitroeien van armoede, teneinde deze te raadplegen over het ALA-programma.
