Op initiatief van commissaris Antonio RUBERTI heeft de Commissie 15 nieuwe gemeenschappelijke onderzoekprojecten geselecteerd in het kader van het AVICENNE-initiatief voor wetenschappelijke en technologische samenwerking tussen de Gemeenschap en aan de Middellandse Zee gelegen derde landen(*). On a proposal from Commissioner Antonio Ruberti, the Commission has selected a further 15 joint research projects under the Avicenne Initiative for Community scientific and technical cooperation with Mediterranean non-member countries.* The projects will receive an overall amount of ECU 5.204 million from the Community.

Launched by the Commission in 1992, Avicenne is designed to strengthen the ties between the Community and these countries in the field of research and development by means of multilateral cooperation on targeted research topics of mutual interest with an impact on the Mediterranean region.

At the initiative of Commission Member Antonio Ruberti, the Commission has selected 15 new research proposals under the Avicenne scheme (scientific and technical cooperation of the European Community with the Mediterranean non-member countries[1] ). These projects will receive Community funding totalling ECU 5.3 million.
