Bij artikel 12 van de Overeenkomst tussen de Europese Unie en de Republiek Azerbeidzjan inzake de versoepeling van de afgifte van visa („de overeenkomst”) is een Gemengd Comité (het „Gemengd Comité”) opgericht.
Article 12 of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the facilitation of the issuance of visas (‘the Agreement’) sets up a Joint Committee (the ‘Joint Committee’).

Het aan dit besluit gehechte ontwerpbesluit van het Gemengd Comité dient als basis voor het standpunt dat in het bij artikel 12 van de Overeenkomst tussen de Unie en de Republiek Azerbeidzjan inzake de versoepeling van de afgifte van visa opgerichte Gemengd Comité namens de Europese Unie moet worden ingenomen betreffende de vaststelling van gemeenschappelijke richtsnoeren voor de uitvoering van die overeenkomst.
The position to be taken on behalf of the European Union within the Joint Committee set up by Article 12 of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, with regard to the adoption of common guidelines for the implementation of that Agreement, shall be based on the draft Decision of the Joint Committee attached to this Decision.

These Guidelines, adopted by the Joint Committee set up under Article 12 of the Agreement (the ‘Joint Committee’), aim at ensuring a harmonised implementation of the Agreement by the diplomatic missions and consular posts of the Member States of the Union (‘Member States’) and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Commission may decide to refer to the Joint Committee established by the Agreement between the European Economic Community and the Republic of Iceland (‘the Agreement’), for the purpose of taking the measures provided for in Articles 23, 25, 25a and 27 of the Agreement.

Supports the efforts of the government of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to establish joint committees on education and history with neighbouring EU Member States with a view to reviewing possible discrepancies and misinterpretations of history that may cause disagreements, and urges the authorities to promote the joint celebration of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's common cultural and historic heritage with its neighbours;
