De Raad nam nota van een samenvatting van de studie naar de bevoegdheden van Europese douaneambtenaren, die is uitgevoerd in het kader van het Douane 2002-programma. Het overzicht is samengesteld aan de hand van de vragenlijst die door de Groep douanesamenwerking en de Groep douane-unie van de Raad is besproken, alsook op basis van de bezoeken die de Frans- Italiaanse teams tussen 10 april en 23 juni 2000 hebben afgelegd.
The Council took note of a document summarising the survey on the powers of European customs officials, conducted in the context of the "Customs 2002" programme on the basis of the reference questionnaire examined by the Council's Working Parties on Customs Union and on Customs Cooperation and the outcome of visits by French and Italian teams between 10 April and 23 June 2000.

Over dit initiatief is een politiek akkoord bereikt op de vergadering van de groep Douane-unie van 18 oktober 2002; de formele goedkeuring wordt verwacht voor het einde van januari 2003.
