TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

8. veroordeelt het verbod op de Oekraïense communistische partij met de grootst mogelijke nadruk en dringt aan op de onmiddellijke opheffing van het verbod; geeft aan zich ernstig zorgen te maken over deze aanslag op de vrijheid van meningsuiting en op het bestaan van een democratische politieke partij in Oekraïne en verzoekt de EU-instellingen, alsook andere democratische Europese en internationale instanties, krachtig stelling te nemen en deze ernstige bedreiging van de democratie in Oekraïne scherp te veroordelen;
8. Condemns in the strongest possible terms the banning of the Communist Party of Ukraine, and calls for the immediate lifting of the ban; expresses deep concern at this attack on freedom of expression and the existence of a democratic political party in Ukraine, and calls on the EU institutions, as well as on other democratic European and international bodies, to take a firm stand and to strongly condemn this serious attack on democracy in Ukraine;

G. overwegende dat er een verbod is ingesteld op de Oekraïense communistische partij;
G. whereas the Communist Party of Ukraine has been banned;

G. whereas the level of representation of far-right, extreme nationalist and xenophobic politicians in the new Ukrainian Government is extremely worrying; whereas the new government is failing to control the infamous Right Sector; whereas the Communist Party of Ukraine, which has put forward a programme to preserve Ukraine’s unity while protecting the rights of all its citizens faces violent repression, and a legal ban of the party has been instigated, with the party recently being brought to the court;

J. whereas the new government is failing to control the extreme right-wing paramilitary groups; whereas, in particular and more and more frequently, members of the Verkhovna Rada and members of other democratic institutions who are members of the Communist Party of Ukraine are victims of right-wing attacks in which they are blackmailed, intimidated, and have their property seized or destroyed; whereas the central office of the Communist Party of Ukraine in Kyiv, which is owned by the Communist Party, as well as the property and personal belongings of employees who worked in the building, were confiscated and the building was burned; whereas many offices of the Communist Party in all Ukrainian regions have been attacked and destroyed; whereas even in the parliament political debates result in violent attacks against the opposition;

8. toont zich ernstig bezorgd over de politieke rol van extreemrechtse nationalistische en xenofobische krachten in de Oekraïense politiek; veroordeelt de aanvallen op de vertegenwoordigers van de communistische partij in de Verchovna Rada en andere democratische instellingen, en de vernieling van monumenten ter nagedachtenis aan de Tweede Wereldoorlog; uit zijn scherpe kritiek over het gebrek aan aandacht van de Commissie, de Raad en de lidstaten voor het feit dat belangrijke actoren binnen de huidige regerende politieke klasse van Oekraïne nationale, xenofobische en neofascistische ideologieën vertegenwoordigen die strijdig zijn met de basale waarden van de EU, het EU-Handvest voor de grondrechten en het Europees Verdrag tot bescherming van de mensenrechten;

Expresses deep concern at the political role of the extreme right-wing nationalist and xenophobic forces in Ukrainian politics; condemns the attacks against the representatives of the Communist Party in the Verkhovna Rada and other democratic institutions, and the destruction of World War II monuments; strongly criticises the fact that the Commission, the Council and Member States are neglecting the fact that major actors in Ukraine’s current ruling political scene represent national, xenophobic and neo-fascist ideologies which contradict basic EU values, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights;
