Gezamenlijke en/of gecoördineerde onderzoeksactiviteiten, met name met betrekking tot de risico's van lage stralingsdoses (als gevolg van een industriële, medische of milieublootstelling), de aanpak van noodsituaties verband houdende met stralingsongevallen, en radio-ecologie, om een wetenschappelijke en technologische pan-Europese basis te creëren voor een solide, billijk en maatschappelijk aanvaardbaar beschermingssysteem.
Joint and/or coordinated research activities, in particular those regarding the risks from low doses from industrial, medical or environmental exposure, on emergency management in relation to accidents involving radiation, and on radioecology, to provide a pan-European scientific and technological basis for a robust, equitable and socially acceptable system of protection.

Op het moment ondersteunen wij in het kader van het zevende Euratom-kaderprogramma een Network of Excellence radio-ecologie, om integratie, netwerkvorming en topwetenschap te financieren in het belang van de bescherming van mens en milieu tegen straling.

€50 miljoen gaat naar stralingsbescherming vooronderzoek naar de kwantificering van risico's in verband met geringe en langdurige blootstelling, medische blootstelling en natuurlijke stralingsbronnen, bescherming van het milieu en radio-ecologie, risico- en noodgevallenbeheer alsmede bescherming van de werkplek.
Radiation protection takes up to 50 million €, to be used for research on quantification of risks associated with low and protracted exposures, medical exposures and natural sources of radiation, protection of the environment and radioecology, risk and emergency management and protection of the workplace.
