IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Aangezien de noodzakelijke procedures voor de inwerkingtreding van deze regeling tussen de Europese Unie en de Republiek IJsland op 24 maart 2014 zijn voltooid, zal deze regeling wat betreft de Republiek IJsland op 1 mei 2014 in werking treden, overeenkomstig artikel 7 van de regeling.
As the procedures necessary for the entry into force of this Arrangement between the European Union and the Republic of Iceland have been completed on 24 March 2014, this Arrangement will enter into force as far as the Republic of Iceland is concerned, in accordance with Article 7 of the Arrangement, on 1 May 2014.

Er wordt namens de Unie machtiging verleend voor de ondertekening van de Regeling tussen de Europese Unie en de Republiek IJsland betreffende de nadere bijzonderheden van de deelname van de Republiek IJsland aan het Europees Ondersteuningsbureau voor asielzaken, onder voorbehoud van de sluiting van de regeling (2).

As regards Iceland and Norway, Decision No 574/2007/EC constitutes a development of provisions of the Schengen acquis within the meaning of the Agreement concluded by the Council of the European Union and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway concerning the association of those two States with the implementation, application and development of the Schengen acquis (2), which fall within the areas referred to in Article 1, points A and B of Council Decision 1999/437/EC of 17 May 1999 on certain arrangements for the application of the Agreement concluded by the Council of the European Union and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway concerning the association of those two States with the implementation, application and development of the Schengen acquis.

(14) As regards Switzerland, this Decision constitutes, with the exception of Article 7, a development of the provisions of the Schengen acquis within the meaning of the Agreement signed by the European Union, the European Community and the Swiss Confederation concerning the association of the Swiss Confederation with the implementation, application and development of the Schengen acquis which fall within the area referred to in Article 1, point B of Council Decision 1999/437/EC of 17 May 1999 read in conjunction with Article 4 (1) of the Council Decision 2004/849/EC on the signing, on behalf of the European Union, and on the provisional application of certain provisions of that Agreement.

The Commission, responsible for negotiations with the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway, reached a draft arrangement on 18 May 2005. The arrangement dealt with the limited and exceptional voting rights of the representatives of Norway and Iceland; the financial contribution of Iceland and Norway; data protection and the acknowledgement of the legal status of FRONTEX in Icelandic and Norwegian law.

As regards the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway, except insofar as it establishes an exchange of information on the problems associated with the return of third-country nationals other than those who do not fulfil or who no longer fulfil the conditions for a short stay applicable within the territory of a Member State by virtue of the provisions of the Schengen acquis, this Decision constitutes a development of the provisions of the Schengen acquis within the meaning of the Agreement concluded on 18 May 1999 by the Council of the European Union and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway concerning the association of those two States with the implementation, application and development of the Schengen acquis (5), which fall within the areas referred to in Article 1, points A, B, C and E of Council Decision 1999/437/EC of 17 May 1999 on certain arrangements for the application of that Agreement (6).
