In het kader van de SES-herschikking zijn niet alleen SES-bepalingen geschrapt, maar ook enkele kleine aanpassingen aan Verordening (EG) nr. 216/2008 aangebracht. De tekst van deze verordening was immers gebaseerd op de terminologie van sommige SES-bepalingen – met name op het gebied van interoperabiliteit – en daarom moet de terminologie uit de vier geschrapte SES-verordeningen worden overgenomen in Verordening (EG) nr. 2016/2008.
