Reg Alcock (President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, quite to the contrary of the assertion made by the hon. member, this government has engaged in unprecedented openness, not just in the release of normally confidential information but in our practice of disclosure around contracting and appointments; in the information we provide to the House on the work we are doing to make evergreen; and in the paper that is before the committee looking at a new Access to Information Act.

Reg Alcock (président du Conseil du Trésor et ministre responsable de la Commission canadienne du blé, Lib.): Monsieur le Président, contrairement à ce que le député affirme, le gouvernement fait preuve d'une ouverture sans précédent, non seulement en divulguant des renseignements habituellement confidentiels, mais également en adoptant comme pratique de dévoiler de l'information sur la passation de marchés et sur les nominations, en veillant à fournir à la Chambre les renseignements les plus récents et en présentant au comité un document portant sur une nouvelle loi sur l'accès à l'information.
