Designed in 1964 by David Weiser of Highland Queen Sportswear Limited in Toronto, the Maple Leaf Tartan pattern incorporates the green of the leaves' summer foliage, the gold that appears in early autumn, the red that appears with the coming of the first frost, and the brown tones of the fallen leaves.
