After five States referred to in Article 52, paragraph 1, have signed it without reservation of ratification, acceptance or approval, or have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, this Convention shall enter into force for further Contracting Parties six months after the date of the deposit of their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession.

For each State or regional economic integration organisation that ratifies, accepts or approves this Convention or accedes thereto after the deposit of the 50th instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, the Convention shall enter into force on the 90th day after the date of deposit by such State or regional economic integration organisation of its instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession.

In the case of accession, the Convention enters into force 90 days after the deposit of the State's instrument of accession or the date of entry into force of the Convention if it has not already entered into force at the time of the expiry of the said period of 90 days.
