I would hope that at some point, when the dust has settled on this, some of us in this House might actually be able to take a look at how far we can go and how flexible we can be in the supply cycle motions of opposition days, so that these kinds of debates are not thrust upon us as a surprise, as a political tactic, but rather in a manner that is respectful of the significance of the debate we are having today.
J'ose espérer que, à un moment donné, lorsque la poussière sera retombée, certains d'entre nous à la Chambre pourront en fait examiner jusqu'où il est possible d'aller et quelle souplesse nous pouvons avoir en ce qui concerne les motions présentées lors d'une journée d'opposition du cycle budgétaire, pour que ce genre de débat ne nous soit pas imposé par surprise, comme tactique politique. In closing, I wish to say how proud I am that our party, the Bloc Quebecois, is the one making it possible for the House to express itself on this major question, the most vital and important of questions, whether to have peace or war.

We have hope on this side of the House, in the NDP particularly, that there may come a day when parliament could express itself perhaps even unanimously in favour of this motion.
