With regard to the alleged advantages that OTE derived from its former monopoly position, the Greek authorities emphasise that since 2001, the Greek telecommunications market has been fully liberalised and subject to the ex ante regulatory supervision of EETT, the national regulatory authority.

The violent dispersal of this demonstration left many people injured and culminated in the murder of the Greek demonstrator.
