With the support of the respective EU agencies (Frontex and EASO), both in terms of equipment and human resources, the registration process of irregular migrants on the Greek islands and at the land border with Turkey has improved significantly.

2. In more general terms, what is the extent of the progress made so far in drawing up the Greek national land registry and is it considered to be satisfactory?
En règle générale, quel est le degré d'avancement des travaux menés à ce jour en vue de la constitution du cadastre national grec? Ce dernier est-il jugé satisfaisant?

The establishment of a national land registry is an extremely important task, in particular for the economic development of Greece. Various problems and complications have arisen in carrying out this project but on, 3 February 2004, the then Greek Government announced that the Commission had approved a draft operational programme entitled ‘Information technology data infrastructure for a modern land registry.
Considérant que la constitution d'un cadastre national constitue une tâche essentielle, notamment au regard du développement économique de la Grèce, que des problèmes et complications se sont fait jour lors de la réalisation de cette tâche et que, le 3 février 2004, le gouverment grec alors en place a fait savoir que les services de la Commission avaient adopté un projet de programme opérationnel baptisé «Infrastructure de données, technologies de l'information pour un cadastre moderne», la Commission peut-elle répondre aux questions suivantes:

"I am convinced in these circumstances", Mr Barnier said, "that work on the Greek land register can continue and be intensified with the rigour and transparency required for the use of the Community funds".
