TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE
Up to now, the Istanbul Convention is the most far-reaching legal instrument on violence against women and has the potential of effectively preventing and combating violence against women in Europe and beyond. Decisive action is needed in terms of signing and ratifying, and - most importantly - implementing the Council of Europe’s Convention on Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence by individual states and by the European Union.

The modernised law will help ensure that products that claim to protect the user against certain risks keep their promises (for example, product protects " against heat up to 100°C", "against UVA/UVB rays", "against noise", "against cutting by hand-held chain saws", "against high pressure cutting" etc.).

There are enough of those who cannot stand being deceived by their soothing words – they have already tricked us, they tell us: ‘we are against, we are against’, and, in the end, they abstain. ‘We are against, we are against, but we will vote in favour’.

The most crucial argument is that men's violence against women is a violation of human rights. Above all, the violence typically perpetrated against women is not prosecuted as vigorously as the violence typically perpetrated against men.

The UN, in 2003, obtained two significant results in the fight against corruption. The first event was the entry into force of the Palermo Convention against Transnational Organised Crime, on 29 September 2003; the second was the conclusions of the preparatory work for the new UN Convention against Corruption, which will be signed on 9/10 December 2003 in Mexico.

The next important step in this fight against violence came in 1979. The United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women was one of the first international agreements to recognise that the problem of violence and discrimination against women merited particular attention.

The European Union is deeply worried about the most recent attacks against the independent media in Kazakhstan, which include the repeated vandalising of TAN TV feeder cable in Almaty, the 3 May arson attack against the "Ak Zhaiy " publishing house in Atyrau, the aggression against two journalists of the newspaper "SolDat" on 21 May followed by the destruction of its equipment, and the firebomb attack against the offices of the newspaper "Delovoye Obozreniye-Respublika" on 22 May, which, furthermore, risked the lives of many people in the same building.
