Stresses that action to diversify suppliers, routes and sources of energy supply to the EU should be accelerated, taking into account the priority energy infrastructure corridors, especially those aimed at creating a real competitive market for gas, creating new transit corridors (Southern Corridor and the Mediterranean Basin), reinforcing existing corridors (Eastern Corridor) and creating real competition among sources of gas supply by increasing the EU's share of LNG and by reaching new and remote suppliers (Australia, Canada, United States, Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, etc.);

Stresses that, thanks to their geographical situation, the outermost regions (ORs) and overseas countries and territories (OCTs) are the European Union’s windows on the world and that they respond perfectly to some of the options proposed by the Commission, in particular the development of out-of-season tourism for EU citizens; points out that the ORs also offer nearby countries such as the United States, Canada and the BRIC group of countries, particularly Brazil, the opportunity to discover the specific features of tourism on European territory, which combines safe travel, health infrastructure and quality hotel and catering facilities;

While understanding the physical limitations to large scale marketing of such vehicles (lack of infrastructures, cost-effectiveness, etc.) it is hard to understand why by 2010 Canada is likely to have finished its own "hydrogen highway" between Vancouver and Whistler and the European Union has not a similar project in sight.
