I would like briefly to refer to Mr Mote’s comments: he might be a bit more sanguine about the health and safety regulations if he had once had to gather up the remains of an unfortunate worker who had slipped off a roof and ended up dead on the street below because there was no scaffolding available during his work, and had then to go to the family of that unfortunate man and explain why he was dead.

Mote: il serait peut-être un peu plus chatouilleux sur les questions de santé et de sécurité s’il avait déjà dû ramasser à la petite cuiller le corps d’un malheureux ouvrier qui a glissé d’un toit pour se tuer sur le trottoir d’en bas, parce qu’aucun échafaudage n’était disponible au moment de son travail, et s’il avait ensuite dû aller expliquer à la famille de ce malheureux pourquoi celui-ci était mort.
