I would appeal to the House not to seek to destabilise this carefully-balanced and hard-won compromise that was achieved after many meetings, with input from different MEPs from different political groups and of different nationalities.

This requires a careful balancing of their rights and best interests when considering the impacts upon all groups of children in these various roles as they migrate from one role to the other. D'une façon unanime, les motions sur lesquelles nous avons voté lors de cette importante rencontre disaient qu'il fallait maintenir un équilibre entre la liberté et la sécurité, qu'il ne fallait pas, à cause des événements malheureux qui sont survenus en septembre 2001, qu'on commence à vouloir modifier, par des législations restreignant la liberté d'expression, des acquis durement obtenus.
