(5) The licensee’s obligation to distribute the programming services of a local television station or a regional television station under subsection (1) also includes the obligation to distribute the digital programming service of that television station that is received by direct feed if the programming service of the local television station or regional television station is also received over the air by the licensee in its licensed area.

The experimental satellite broadcasts of EUROPA-TV, started on 5 October 1985 under the aegis of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) by five public service television stations, are the follow-up to the EURIKON experiments of 1982 (1) The aim of the two series of experiments was to check certain theories, in particular : - the possibility of multilingual broadcasts; - the possibility of televised news produced by multinational teams and aimed at an European audience, - the general scope for multinational activity making use of the potential of television satellites with a view to the introduction of direct satellite broadcasting (DSB). These theories, based on technical developments, offer a way of overcoming language barriers and the difficulties that have always prevented the people of Europe from learning about each other.
L'experience des emissions par satellite d'EUROPA-TV, conduite a partir du 5 octobre 1985 sous l'egide de l'Union Europeenne de radiodiffusion (UER) par 5 stations de television de service public, represente la suite des experimentations d'EURIKON de 1982 (1). La finalite des deux series d'experiences etait de verifier certaines hypotheses, et notamment: - les possibilites du multilinguisme des emissions; - les possibilites d'une information televisee produite par des equipes multinationales et adressee a un publique europeen; - les possibilites generales d'un travail a base multinationale, capable d'utiliser le potentiel des satellites de television, en vue de l'avenement de la television directe par satellite (TDS). techniques, ouvrent la perspective de surmonter les barrieres linguistiques et les difficultes qui, depuis toujours, s'opposent a une connaissance mutuelle des peuples europeens.
