NAYS: Carole-Marie Allard Sarmite Bulte Joe Jordan Paul Macklin John McKay Scott Reid John Richardson Jaques Saada Ted White (9) Stéphane Bergeron moved, That Bill C-9 be amended by adding after line 33 on page 1 the following new clause: " 2.1 Subsection 24(1) of the Act is replaced by the following: 24 (1) The Chief Electoral Officer shall appoint a returning officer for each electoral district and may only remove him or her for cause under subsection (7)" .
