I am sure there are going to be protestations, with people saying, no, no, that was made clear, the language was made clear and all the rest of it, but let me say that it further made me uncomfortable to hear several references, both from the Conservative sponsor of the bill and from the Liberal who spoke in support of it, to a number of American states, mostly southern U.S. states, and in particular, South Carolina, as one of the states that has had considerable experience with this bill.

Les gens diront que non, bien sûr que non, cette question est réglée et on ne veut pas revenir là-dessus, mais je dois ajouter que mon malaise a augmenté quand j'ai entendu plusieurs fois, venant tant du parrain conservateur du projet de loi que du député libéral qui a pris la parole à l'appui du projet de loi, des références à des États américains, surtout du Sud des États-Unis, notamment la Caroline du Sud, un État qui a beaucoup d'expérience de ce type de mesure.
