Mr. Speaker, you have no idea just how devastating the knowledge is to a family that is still reeling from the murder of a loved one that there is a philosophy in this country which holds that three years of incarceration is an appropriate sanction for intentionally taking the life of an innocent stranger in a random, unprovoked attack on the street.
Monsieur le Président, vous ne pouvez pas savoir combien il est terrible pour une famille de s'entendre dire cela alors qu'elle est encore toute bouleversée par la mort d'un être cher, de savoir que quelque part dans ce pays, on estime suffisante une peine de trois ans d'incarcération pour avoir ôté intentionnellement la vie d'un innocent comme cela, dans la rue, lors d'une agression gratuite, non provoquée.
