Draws attention to the problem of female suicide bombers and stresses that rape used as a weapon of war affects all women, irrespective of ethnic, religious and ideological differences; notes that women who have been raped are socially stigmatised, excluded and even killed; recalls that in Sri Lanka the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) deliberately recruit them as suicide bombers and that in Chechnya they are often compelled to carry out suicide bombings against their will; notes that, because they have lost their 'right to life and value' through rape, they are open to this type of violence, partly as a way of taking revenge on the 'enemy' for the 'shame' they have suffered; observes that this phenomenon has nothing to do with Islam but rather is associated with traditional roles and the value assigned to women and their virginity (which is also a feature of non-Islamic societies); notes that the phenomenon is also a form of resistance to traditional roles and expectations in a male-dominated society;
