In its report, the Commission considers that both the evolution of milk production versus milk quotas, and the downward trend in quotas prices show that the phasing-out the milk quota system in on track. In many Member states, quotas are no longer relevant to limit production and the quota price has already reached zero or is approaching it.
In haar verslag is de Commissie van oordeel dat zowel de ontwikkeling van de melkproductie ten opzichte van de melkquota als de neergaande ontwikkeling van de quotumprijzen erop wijzen dat de geleidelijke afschaffing van de melkquotaregeling volgens plan verloopt. In vele lidstaten zijn de quota niet langer relevant voor productiebeperking en ligt de quotumprijs al op nul of net daarboven.
