1. Recalls its determination to fight terrorism and organised and transnational crime, and, at the same time, its firm belief in the need to protect civil liberties and fundamental rights, including the rights to privacy, informational self-determination and data protection; reaffirms that necessity and proportionality, as set out in Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Articles 7 and 8 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, are key principles in ensuring effectiveness in the fight against terrorism;
1. bevestigt nogmaals dat het vastberaden is terrorisme en georganiseerde en grensoverschrijdende misdaad te bestrijden, en dat het er tegelijkertijd van overtuigd is dat de burgerlijke vrijheden en de grondrechten, met inbegrip van het recht op privacy, eigen beeldvorming en gegevensbescherming, moeten worden beschermd; herbevestigt dat noodzaak en evenredigheid, zoals bedoeld in artikel 8 van het Europees Verdrag voor de rechten van de mens en in de artikelen 7 en 8 van het Handvest van de grondrechten van de Europese Unie, grondbeginselen zijn voor een doeltreffende bestrijding van het terrorisme;
