On a proposal from Mr Monti, the Commission has decided to initiate proceedings before the Court of Justice against Greece for its failure to notify measures transposing into national law four directives in the insurance field, namely: - Directive 92/49/EEC, i.e. the third "non-life insurance" Directive; - Directive 92/96/EEC, i.e. the third "life assurance" Directive; - Directive 91/674/EEC on the annual accounts of insurance companies; and - Directive 91/371/EEC on implementation of the Agreement between the EC and Switzerland concerning direct insurance other than life assurance.
