Urges the EU and its Member States, as well as NATO partners, to address the issue of certain countries’ ambivalent roles in the conflict, in particular where they contributed, or still contribute, actively or passively, to the rise of ISIS/Da’esh and other extremist groups; is very concerned, in this context, about the financing of the dissemination of the Wahhabi interpretation of Islam by public and private entities of countries from the Gulf region and calls upon these countries to stop this financing; furthermore, urges these countries to stop the financing of terrorist organisations from within their territories; calls upon Turkey to play a positive role in the fight against ISIS/Da’esh and without delay allow Christian minorities and other persecuted people fleeing from Syria to cross the border into Turkey and seek safety;
7. dringt er bij de EU en haar lidstaten en bij haar partners van de NAVO op aan de kwestie van de ambivalente rol van bepaalde landen in het conflict te behandelen, in het bijzonder indien deze landen hebben bijgedragen of nog altijd bijdragen, hetzij actief, hetzij passief, tot de opkomst van Da'esh/ISIS en andere extremistische bewegingen; toont zich in deze context uiterst ongerust over het feit dat de verspreiding van de wahabitische interpretatie van de islam wordt gefinancierd door staats- en privé-instanties uit de Golfstaten en vraagt de landen in kwestie deze financiering stop te zetten; vraagt deze landen bovendien om een eind te maken aan de vanuit hun grondgebied afkomstige financiering van terroristische organisaties; vraagt Turkije een positieve rol te spelen in de strijd tegen Da'esh/ISIS en er onverwijld mee in te stemmen dat christenen en andere vervolgden die Syrië ontvluchten, de grens met Turkije oversteken om zich in veiligheid te brengen;
