On the one hand, the legal migration of labour and, above all, qualified labour, helps to fight clandestine working, and can improve the competitiveness of the economy and overcome existing scarcities. On the other hand, however, we cannot forget that, during a period of economic crisis and vulnerability, when unemployment is growing, labour migration policy must be flexible, as argued by the Commission, but also sustainable and reasonable.
Se, por um lado, a migração legal de mão-de-obra, sobretudo mão-de-obra qualificada, ajuda a combater o trabalho clandestino e pode auxiliar a competitividade da economia e a superar carências existentes, por outro não podemos esquecer que, num período de crise e de vulnerabilidade económica em que cresce o desemprego, a política de migração de mão-de-obra tem que ser flexível, como defende a Comissão, mas também terá que ser sustentável e razoável.
