— Le projet « MERI » (Mapping Existing Research and Identifying knowledge gaps concerning the situation of older women in Europe — Recueil de données et identifications des lacunes de connaissances concernant la situation des femmes âgées en Europe) a été la concrétisation des requêtes de scientifiques, de représentants d'associations et de gouvernements nationaux qui ont assisté en 2001 à une Conférence européenne ayant pour thème « L'Égalité des chances pour les femmes âgées ».
— Het MERI-project (Mapping Existing Research and Identifying knowledge gaps concerning the situation of older women in Europe) werd op verzoek van wetenschappers, vertegenwoordigers van verenigingen en nationale regeringen op een Europese Conferentie betreffende gelijke kansen voor oudere vrouwen in 2001 opgestart.

Le principal motif qui se cache derrière l'existence du Older Women's Network Europe (« Réseau européen des Femmes âgées ») est d'attirer l'attention des responsables politiques et des professionnels sur les conditions de vie des femmes de 50 à 100 ans et plus.
Het « Older Women's Network Europe » bestaat vooral om het leven van oudere vrouwen van 50 tot 100 jaar en ouder onder de aandacht van beleidsmakers en professionals te brengen.

1° accorde la personnalité civile à l'association internationale « Older Women's Network - Europe », en abrégé « OWN, Europe », en français « Réseau Européen des Femmes de plus de 50 ans », dont le siège est établi à 1000 Bruxelles;
1° wordt rechtspersoonlijkheid verleend aan de internationale vereniging « Older Women's Network - Europe », afgekort « OWN, Europe », in het Frans « Réseau Européen des Femmes de plus de 50 ans », waarvan de zetel te 1000 Brussel gevestigd is;
