2. Voor de toepassing van deze richtlijn zijn de voor steun in aanmerking komende kosten uitsluitend de kosten die verband houden met fundamenteel onderzoek, industrieel basisonderzoek, toegepast onderzoek en ontwikkeling, zoals door de Commissie omschreven in bijlage I van het communautaire kader inzake staatssteun voor onderzoek en ontwikkeling (1), met uitsluiting van de kosten die samenhangen met industriële toepassing en commerciële exploitatie van de resultaten.

For the purposes of this Directive, the eligible costs shall be only those relating to fundamental research, basic industrial research and applied research and development, all as defined by the Commission in Annex I to the Community framework for State aids for research and development (1), excluding those related to industrial application and commercial exploitation of the results.
