TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

De Federatieve Republiek Joegoslavië, die bestaat uit de Republiek Servië, de Republiek Montenegro en Kosovo, kan sinds 5 december 2000 opnieuw aan het Tempus-programma deelnemen (in 1991-92 had Joegoslavië al aan Tempus deelgenomen). Zoals voor Kroatië was het zaak snel maatregelen te nemen om Joegoslavië zo snel mogelijk aan het programma te laten deelnemen.
On 5 December 2000 the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was declared eligible for participation in the Tempus Programme. Yugoslavia had participated in the Tempus programme in 1991/92 and so its renewed eligibility was something of a homecoming. As with Croatian eligibility, the emphasis was on speed, so as to enable Yugoslavian institutions to participate as soon as possible.

Welcomes the surrender to the judicial authorities of the remaining two fugitives sought by the ICTY, Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić, by means of which entirely satisfactory cooperation with the ICTY has been achieved; underlines that their capture was not only a requirement for the further progress of Serbia towards the EU but, above all, a step towards bringing justice to the victims of the conflicts of the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia and reconciliation in the region; calls for continuous full and committed cooperation with the Tribunal and for a thorough investigation into and prosecution of persons engaged in the support networks which allowed the fugitives to hide for such a long time, particularly in the military and civilian security services;

– having regard to the proposal for a recommendation to the Council, submitted by Annemie Neyts-Uyttebroeck and others on behalf of the ALDE Group, on the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia ("the Tribunal") (B6-0417/2008), covering the republics that make up the territory that was, until 25 June 1991, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, i.e. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo and Slovenia,

Is pleased to record Montenegro's continued cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and emphasises that this is closely linked with Montenegro's progress towards EU membership; urges the Montenegrin authorities to complete their investigation of Sreten Glendza, commander of the Ulcinj police district, and of five other former police officers accused of committing war crimes in 1992; welcomes the signature on 6 December 2007 of an agreement with the ICTY on providing technical assistance, as well as other steps taken by the same authorities in view of the 2008 deadline for completion of all trials at the ICTY;
