Daarbij dient dit orgaan de volgende prestaties te leveren : - gegevens over de communautaire activiteiten voor plattelandsontwikkeling en over de innovatie- en demonstratieprogramma's die in het kader van LEADER II of van andere bronnen worden gefinancierd, verzamelen, opmaken en verspreiden; - gegevens over de evaluatie van elk nationaal of regionaal LEADER II- programma verwerken en benutten; - het Europees netwerk voor plattelandsontwikkeling met behulp van geavanceerde communicatietechnieken (elektronische post), diverse publikaties, vergaderingen en evenementen beheren, en nationale netwerken en niet-gouvernementele organisaties die nodig zijn om LEADER II naar behoren te laten functioneren, technisch ondersteunen; - technische bijstand verlenen aan overheidsdiensten en regionale en plaatselijke overheden op het gebied van plattelandsontwikkeling; - technische bijstand verlenen waardoor transnationale samenwerkingsprojecten voor plattelandsontwikkeling in het kader van LEADER II gemakkelijker op gang kunnen worden gebracht. De heer FISCHLER gaf hierbij de volgende commentaar : "Ik ben blij dat LEADER II, het nieuwe communautaire initiatief voor plattelandsontwikkeling, nu vaste vorm krijgt.
The benefits provided by this body will be as follows: - collecting, preparing and disseminating information concerning, firstly, all the Community actions for rural development and, secondly, the innovative and demonstration schemes financed by the Leader II Initiative or from other sources; - making use of and processing the evaluation work relating to each regional or national Leader II programme; - running the European Network for rural development, through the medium of advanced communication techniques (electronic mail), various publications, meetings and events, and providing technical support for national networks and non-governmental organizations necessary for the smooth operation of Leader II; - providing technical assistance to government services and regional and local authorities in the field of rural development; - providing technical assistance to facilitate the launching of transnational rural cooperation projects planned under Leader II. Commenting on these decisions, Mr Fischler said: "I am happy to see Leader II, the new Community Initiative for rural development, now taking shape.

Bij de publikatie van de aanvrage om een Gemeenschapsmerk, die niet mag plaatsvinden vóór het verstrijken van een maand na de datum waarop het Bureau de rechercheverslagen toestuurt aan de aanvrager, geeft het Bureau aan de houders van de in het communautair rechercheverslag genoemde oudere Gemeenschapsmerken of de rechthebbenden op oudere aanvragen om Gemeenschapsmerken kennis van de publikatie van de aanvrage om het Gemeenschapsmerk.
6. Upon publication of the Community trade mark application, which may not take place before the expiry of a period of one month as from the date on which the Office transmits the search reports to the applicant, the Office shall inform the proprietors of any earlier Community trade marks or Community trade mark applications cited in the Community search report of the publication of the Community trade mark application.

20. Overwegende dat de Lid-Staten, met name ter bescherming van kritische en wetenschappelijke publikaties, vrij andere naburige rechten kunnen handhaven of invoeren; dat het ter wille van de transparantie op communautair niveau echter nodig is dat Lid-Staten die nieuwe naburige rechten invoeren, de Commissie hiervan in kennis stellen;
(20) Whereas the Member States should remain free to maintain or introduce other rights related to copyright in particular in relation to the protection of critical and scientific publications; whereas, in order to ensure transparency at Community level, it is however necessary for Member States which introduce new related rights to notify the Commission;

The publication of this manual is one of a number of measures starting in 1993 and all aimed at improving the coherence and transparency of the management of the Community's research programmes. These include: issuing calls for proposals on four fixed dates of the year (15 March, 15 June, 15 September and 15 December, with closing dates normally three months later), publication every two months of an "RDT-Info" newsletter containing information on future calls for proposals, on the programmes and on the publications to which they give rise, rotation of experts charged with evaluating proposals and simplification of the content of the information that applicants have to supply.

Zo wordt de publikatie verwacht van twee nieuwe brochures, een eerste waarin de uitwerking van het communautair onderzoeksbeleid en de vaststelling van programma's wordt beschreven, en een tweede die belangstellenden de weg helpt te vinden in het ingewikkelde stelsel van informatiebronnen over het communautair onderzoek.
These include the publication of two new brochures: one explains how Community research policy is developed and programmes adopted, the other is a guide to the various sources of information on Community research.

In verband hiermee moet er aan herinnerd worden dat het laatste voorstel voor wijziging van de richtlijn (P/94/11) voorziet in een aanzienlijke verbetering van de voorlichting van de bevolking door het aanplakken van de meest recente analyseresultaten bij de badzone verplicht te stellen, naast de publikatie van een communautair jaarverslag.
The recent proposal for a revision of the directive (P/94/11) provides for a marked improvement in public information, calling for the results of the latest analyses to be posted at the places of bathing while retaining the annual publication of the Community report.
