TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

OVERWEGENDE DAT de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken van Finland en het lid van de Europese Commissie dat verantwoordelijk is voor Buitenlandse Betrekkingen en het Europese nabuurschapsbeleid bij brief van 7 december 2006 een verzoek tot toetreding van de Europese Unie tot het verdrag hebben ingediend,
WHEREAS the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Member of the European Commission responsible for External Relations and the European Neighbourhood Policy lodged an application for the accession of the European Union to the Treaty through the letter dated 7 December 2006;

A. overwegende dat Kroatië twintig jaar na zijn onafhankelijkheidsverklaring en ongeveer acht jaar na het verzoek om toetreding tot de EU een historische stap heeft gezet in het proces van integratie in de EU door de toetredingsonderhandelingen succesvol af te ronden; overwegende dat de prestatie van Kroatië zonder voorbehoud moet worden erkend;
A. whereas, twenty years after the declaration of its independence and some eight years after submitting its application for EU membership, Croatia has reached a historic milestone in its EU integration process by successfully closing accession negotiations; whereas Croatia's achievements deserve unqualified recognition;
