Welcomes the work carried out by the EIB's Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP) and emphasises the need for more synergies with other international financial institutions also active in the region, and proposes once again the setting-up of a Euro-Mediterranean co-development financial institution, of which the EIB would remain the main shareholder; supports the raising of the EIB guarantee ceiling in order to enable the EIB to maintain the intensity of its operations in the region in coming years; invites the EBRD to change its statutes in order also to participate in this financial assistance process;

Repeats the need to bring the EIB under prudential supervision, be it by the European Central Bank or by any other structure dealing with banking supervision at European level; recognises once again that this needs to be arranged in the Treaty; Calls therefore upon the Commission and Member States to come with an initiative and asks the EIB actively to consider possibilities and report back to the Parliament;

Thanks to the loans signed today, which bring EIB lending to SID banka to some EUR 1 billion, SID banka once again becomes the EIB’s partner in supporting the projects of SMEs and investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency, after having successfully intermediated the EIB funding for projects in the automotive, knowledge economy, infrastructure and environment sectors.
Grâce aux prêts signés ce jour, qui portent l’encours de la BEI sur SID banka à environ 1 milliard d’EUR, cette dernière devient à nouveau le partenaire de la BEI dans le soutien qu’elle apporte aux projets des PME et aux investissements dans l’efficacité énergétique et les énergies renouvelables, après avoir intermédié avec succès les fonds de la BEI destinés à financer des projets réalisés dans différents secteurs, comme l’automobile, l’économie de la connaissance, les infrastructures et l’environnement.
