Allow me to add that the Commission made a conscious decision to have an absolute figure rather than a relative figure – so not one third or one quarter – after a lengthy discussion, because precisely because of the enlargement process this would obviously raise the question of what happens if you have different figures in one parliamentary term during the enlargement process.
Je me permets de souligner que la Commission, au terme d'une longue discussion, a choisi un chiffre absolu et non un chiffre relatif (il n'est donc pas question de tiers ou de quart), car le processus d'élargissement amènerait inévitablement la question de savoir ce qu'il faut faire si l'on obtient des chiffres différents pendant une législature.

I should like to point out that, as Hungary and the Czech Republic will be using the enlargement agreements to deal with institutional matters, precisely because they have no voice in the European Parliament, the question of improved decision-making procedures in the Council should be taken into consideration during enlargement negotiations, meaning that enlargement negotiations also form part of the post-Nice process.
Je voudrais vous faire remarquer qu'étant donné que la Hongrie et la République tchèque - compte tenu précisément des voix qui leur manqueront au Parlement européen - useront des traités d'adhésion pour également aborder des questions institutionnelles, la mise en place de meilleures capacités de décision au sein du Conseil devrait également faire dès à présent partie des négociations d'adhésion et que celles-ci font donc partie de "l'Après Nice".
