I want to say very clear for the record that my concern generally about the Liberals has been made more clear by the fact that the statistics we have received indicate the donations that have been made by members of the Canadian Association of Income Trust Investors to the Liberal Party and to leadership contenders, including I might add the member for Kings—Hants who received a donation in his leadership bid. The member for Kings—Hants received $5,000 from James Kinnear, president of Pengrowth Energy Trust, one of the founding members of the Canadian Association of Income Trust Investors.

I am immensely grateful to the voters of that spectacular but short-lived riding of Rocky Mountain in Alberta; the riding of Yellowhead, which I had the privilege to serve for so long; and the riding of Kings—Hants, from which the Deputy Prime Minister comes as does her now colleague, the current member for Kings—Hants; and of course my constituency of Calgary Centre.

In addition, the Council would remind you that when the European Council met on 15 and 16 June point 43 of the Presidency’s conclusions stated that since June 2005 the Constitutional Treaty had been ratified by five Member States, totalling 15 that had now done so. Two Member States had not ratified the Treaty, and eight were yet to conclude the ratification process.
