Just one day after celebrating the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, I would like to make a special point about the situation of women in Iran, and please allow me to dedicate this speech not only to Sakineh Ashtiani and Zahra Bahrami, but to all women put in jail and those who are missing because of the current Iranian repression.
Un jour seulement après avoir célébré le 100e anniversaire de la Journée internationale de la femme, je souhaite faire un commentaire spécifique au sujet de la situation des femmes en Iran. Permettez-moi de dédier cette intervention à Sakineh Ashtiani et Zahra Bahrami, mais aussi à toutes les femmes incarcérées et aux femmes portées disparues en raison de la répression iranienne en cours.

– (IT) Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I add my voice to all those that are calling for this barbaric act of stoning for adultery not to be perpetrated and for human rights to be respected – not only for Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, but for all those women and also men who are in the same situation.
– (IT) Madame la Présidente, Mesdames et Messieurs, j’ajoute ma voix à toutes celles qui appellent à la suppression de cet acte barbare de lapidation et au respect des droits de l’homme - non seulement pour Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, mais pour toutes les femmes et tous les hommes qui sont dans la même situation.

H. whereas, in spite of claims by the most senior members of the Iranian judiciary, Iran is still imposing the sentence of stoning for the crime of 'adultery', as in the case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, and of Zahra Bahrami, which was highlighted in her televised 'confessions' on 11 August 2010; whereas the 18-year-old Ebrahim Hamidi was sentenced to death in August 2010 on charges of sodomy allegedly committed when he was only 16 years old and on the basis of a confession which he claims was obtained under torture,
H. considérant que malgré les dénégations des plus hauts représentants de l'appareil judiciaire iranien, l'Iran continue de condamner à la lapidation pour "adultère", comme dans le cas de Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani et de Zahra Bahrami, comme cela a été révélé par ses "confessions" télévisées du 11 août 2010; considérant qu'Ebrahim Hamidi, âgé de 18 ans, a été condamné à mort en août 2010 pour sodomie prétendument commise alors qu'il n'avait que 16 ans, et sur la base d'aveux qui, selon ses dires, ont été extorqués sous la torture,

The case of Sakineh, together with the others contained in the text that we have voted for, confirms that today, Tehran may not only be found in complete opposition to modern political and cultural values, but also places itself on a plane of illegality with regard to international norms, failing to comply with binding agreements on the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Le cas de Sakineh, tout comme les autres cas mentionnés dans le texte que nous avons approuvé, confirme qu’à l’heure actuelle, non content de s’opposer à toutes les valeurs politiques et culturelles modernes, Téhéran se met dans l’illégalité par rapport aux normes internationales. L’Iran ne respecte pas les accords contraignants relatifs à la ratification de la Convention des droits de l’enfant et du Pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques.
