Expresses its concern about the recent increase in the number of discriminatory laws and practices, and of acts of violence against individuals, on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity; encourages close monitoring of the situation of LGBTI people, including in Nigeria and Gambia, where recently introduced anti-LGBTI laws threaten the lives of sexual minorities; expresses its strong concern regarding so-called ‘anti-propaganda’ laws limiting freedom of expression and assembly, as found in Russia and Lithuania and as currently under consideration in the Kyrgyz parliament; welcomes the UNHRC resolution on combating violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, adopted on 26 September 2014; considers regrettable the UNHRC’s adoption of its resolution on the protection of the family on 26 June 2014, which potentially undermines the principle of universal and indivisible human rights; reaffirms its support for the continued work by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote and protect the enjoyment of all human rights by LGBTI persons, notably through statements and reports; encourages the UNHCHR to continue to fight discriminatory laws and practices;
