Two key policy initiatives were launched in 2008: one to facilitate patient access to telemedicine services and stimulate market development; and the second initiative helps Member States address cross-border interoperability of electronic health record systems to support citizens and the market. eHealth is also one of the focus areas of the Commission’s Lead Market Initiative, which aims to accelerate market growth through schemes to improve cross-border cooperation and delivery of health services.
