Urges the Commission to promote research, innovation, capacity building, education, dissemination, awareness-raising and public information projects in this field and to support the exchange of information and best practices; points out that the skills and training of personnel able to deal with this innovative approach and to properly value the benefits provided by ecosystems, especially in the sectors of water supply and purification, waste, construction, disaster management, agriculture, tourism and health facilitate the development of green infrastructure;

although they may fall within the scope of Regulation (EC) No 1698/2005, aids granted to promote the diversification of primary producers (farmers) into activities which are not connected to the production, processing and marketing of agricultural products falling within the scope of Annex I of the Treaty, such as agro-tourism, the development of craft industries or aquaculture, fall outside of the scope of these guidelines.

4. is van mening dat de Commissie samen met de lidstaten en regio's nieuwe vormen van toerisme (zoals ecotoerisme, agrotoerisme, sociaal toerisme, gezondheidstoerisme en andere vormen) moet bevorderen en deze financieel moet steunen als middel om werkgelegenheid te scheppen, seizoenseffecten te compenseren en economische groei te genereren waarbij de natuurlijke hulpbronnen en het cultureel erfgoed van de regio's worden ontzien; acht het noodzakelijk die infrastructurele voorzieningen en diensten te bevorderen die voor speciale vormen van toerisme noodzakelijk zijn, voorzien in goede en duurzame vervoersverbindingen en regionale kwaliteitsproducten integreren in de ontwikkeling en marketing van toeristische producten en diensten;
