Omschrijving: Syndromen waarin het overheersende symptoom een of andere tic is. Een tic is een onwillekeurige, snelle, herhaalde, niet-ritmische motorische-beweging (doorgaans door welomschreven spiergroepen) of vocale uiting die plotseling begint en geen duidelijk doel dient. Tics tend to be experienced as irresistible but usually they can be suppressed for varying periods of time, are exacerbated by stress, and disappear during sleep. Common simple motor tics include only eye-blinking, neck-jerking, shoulder- shrugging, and facial grimacing. Common simple vocal tics include throat-clearing, barking, sniffing, and hissing. Common complex tics include hitting oneself, jumping, and hopping. Common complex vocal tics include the repetition of particular words, and sometimes the use of socially unacceptable (often obscene) words (coprolalia), and the repetition of one's own sounds or words (palilalia).

Omschrijving: Een heterogene groep stoornissen die worden gekenmerkt door het acute begin van psychotische symptomen, zoals wanen, hallucinaties, stoornissen van de waarneming en door de ernstige verstoring van gewone gedragingen. 'Acuut' wordt gedefinieerd als een progressieve ontwikkeling van een duidelijk abnormaal klinisch beeld in ongeveer twee weken of minder. Voor deze stoornissen is geen bewijs voor een organische oorzaak. Verbijstering en onbegrip zijn dikwijls aanwezig, maar desoriëntatie in tijd, plaats en persoon is niet aanhoudend of -ernstig genoeg om een diagnose van organisch veroorzaakt delirium (F05.-) te rechtvaardigen. Volledig herstel treedt doorgaans op binnen enkele maanden, dikwijls binnen enkele weken of zelfs dagen. Als de stoornis aanhoudt is er een wijziging van klassering nodig. De stoornis kan al of niet samengaan met acute stress, gedefinieerd als doorgaans stressveroorzakende gebeurtenissen die een of twee weken aan het begin voorafgaan.
Definition: A heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by the acute onset of psychotic symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations, and perceptual disturbances, and by the severe disruption of ordinary behaviour. Acute onset is defined as a crescendo development of a clearly abnormal clinical picture in about two weeks or less. For these disorders there is no evidence of organic causation. Perplexity and puzzlement are often present but disorientation for time, place and person is not persistent or severe enough to justify a diagnosis of organically caused delirium (F05.-). Complete recovery usually occurs within a few months, often within a few weeks or even days. If the disorder persists, a change in classification will be necessary. The disorder may or may not be associated with acute stress, defined as usually stressful events preceding the onset by one to two weeks.
